Architecture Wednesday: Sterna Nisyros Residence

The Sterna Nisyros Residence is situated inside the mid-level castle of Emporios settlement on the island of Nisyros in Greece. The two-storey house dates back to the mid 17th Century, though in 1933 later it collapsed, along with the rest of the castle, following a devastating earthquake.

It is the first house to be restored in the castle of Pantoniki.

The restoration stayed true to the original structure of the home, though there were significant structural improvements. The house has now modern infrastructure, of high quality and minimalist aesthetics. At just about 1400 square feet, the first floor is an open room with a kitchen, the living room and a work. The next floor has two bedrooms and the bathroom.

It’s not a large house, but it does also have almost 1200 square feet of terraces and patios and roof decks. The perfect spot to sip some wine and take in the sun.

  2. I'm not sure about this one. It might be good for my basket weaving studio I suppose. It's too sterile for my. But the views........
