Mittsy Flips On Abortion ..... AGAIN

Somebody shook the Etch-A-Sketch candidate again, and this time Mittsy's flipped, or is it flopped, on the issue of abortion. Again.

Here are the facts:
In 2002, in Massachusetts, Romney ran as pro-choice gubernatorial candidate in Massachusetts.
In 2007, Romney said he favored a “human life” amendment to the constitution and is consistently on record supporting personhood legislation, meaning a fertilized egg would have exactly the same rights as a person, and a woman could risk criminal charges for terminating a pregnancy for any reason.
In 2008, he ran for president as an anti-choice candidate.
In 2011, speaking to wacknut Mike Huckabee, Mittsy once again said he supported a constitutional amendment banning abortion; no exceptions.
In March 2012, during the primaries, Mittsy said he would defund Planned Parenthood--"Planned Parenthood, we're going to get rid of that." --and overturn Roe v. Wade. He to end taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, one of the most common ways in which the GOP has tried to restrict access to abortion, even though Planned Parenthood is already banned from using taxpayer dollars to fund the procedure.
In 2012, Todd Akin happened, and this was just after Team Mittsy had selected Akin's associate in wingnuttery, Paul Ryan, as his running mate/lapdog. So, Mittsy flipped again to a more “mainstream” Republican position of banning abortion with exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother. Mittsy even went on CBS and said, “My position has been clear throughout this campaign. I'm in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother."  Health and life? That’s a different position than before and it sent Team Mittsy into heavy spin control, saying that, although Romney said "health and life" he really meant just the “life of the mother.”
In September 2012, Mittsy said he would prefer to appoint justices to the Supreme Court that would oppose Roe v. Wade: "I hope to appoint justices for the Supreme Court that will follow the law and the constitution. And it would be my preference that they reverse Roe V. Wade and therefore they return to the people and their elected representatives the decisions with regards to this important issue."
In October 2012, New Mittsy, Flipsy Mittsy, now says he has no plans to push for legislation limiting abortion: “There’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda.”Um, really? Cuz you said all that other stuff just a few months back? And then, after that last remark, Team Mittsy again spun itself silly, saying that Mittsy "would of course support legislation aimed at providing greater protections for life."
The Obama campaign has jumped all over this latest Mittsy Flipsy: "It’s troubling that Mitt Romney is so willing to play politics with such important issues," Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith said in a statement. "But we know the truth about where he stands on a woman’s right to choose – he’s said he’d be delighted to sign a bill banning all abortions, and called Roe v. Wade ‘one of the darkest moments in Supreme Court history’ while pledging to appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn it. Women simply can’t trust him."

It's not just women.

How can anyone trust a man as president who literally changes his mind month-to-month? How would we know what kind of president we'll get when even his own team spends a great deal of their time telling us he didn’t mean what he said? Is he flipping? Is he just a liar? Is he flipping out? Maybe Ann was right and we should all be concerned about his mental well-being because Mittsy doesn't know what he says from one day to the next.

Mittsy will say anything to win the election. That's what he's all about.

  6. He knows EXACTLY what he said and likely rehearsed his wording carefully: he wanted it to SOUND like he was moderating his view in order to win over moderate or liberal leaning undecideds. What he said was "no legislation that he's aware of would become part of his agenda; what he MEANT was, such legislation will certainly come up if he's elected and WILL be on his agenda then.

I'm sure there is a "Republican Play Book 2012" because they're all playing the same game of semantics.
