Since The Shoe Fits

We've all seen the video, of Duck-and-Cover-Shock-and-Awe W getting shoe'd in Baghdad, but then this morning I heard him talking about it.....ad nauseum; ad nauseum because the man makes me ill. But I digress.

He spouted how proud he was, really, of the loafer toss; how it showed how much things had changed in Iraq, how many more freedoms they have in Iraq, to voice opinions, express displeasure, talk back. Sass the man, if you will. He used a shoe throw in an effort to boost his image in his waning days; although I think his waning days started way back in 2001, but again I digress yet again.

You see, I remember all the times W appeared in cities around the US, to take his case to the American people as he campaigned for re-election on the Fear Platform, just as more and more people began to oppose his war of lies. I remember that, here in America, the Land of the Free, people who wanted to protest the war, to carry signs denouncing the President, who wanted to hurl their Hushpuppies, or chuck a Jimmy Choo, were not allowed to even be in his vicinity as he drove by. The protesters were relegated to 'safe zones' sometimes miles away from where W was headed. He'd never see the signs or hear the voices or count the one-fingered salutes.

Living in a bubble. That's our W.

But lemme get this straight: in Iraq, it's okay to call the President a dog and lob footwear at his head; but in the US of A, we were told to stand back, to go over there. Funny, how he loves this new found sense of freedom in Iraq, but he tried to quash it in his own country.

I'm counting the days, Mr. President. It's been a long, tortured eight years of lies and indignation, death and destruction, smirks and nonsensical responses to our questions. A long eight years where you let fear run rampant in this country; fear of them, whomever they might be. It's been a tough eight years and you're handing off the country in far worse shape than you found it.

You should be so proud.

And you should be thankful it was only two shoes.

  1. He has good reflexes. I'll give him that. What about the secret service guys? They took their time, didn't they?

He's revising history all over the place, isn't he? A revisionist mis-administration that only die-hard Bushies will believe.

  3. US citizens would throw more than shoes at W if they didn't think they'd get life in prison for doing so.
